Islamic Religious Education and Practical Theology
Prof. Tuba Isik
Professor Isik’s research interests cover multiple sub-disciplines, emphasising Islamic religious education in classroom as well as other settings of religious practice like hospitals, prisons, or communities. Regarding religious education in schools, Prof. Isik focuses on didactics, empirics and methods of teaching Islam as a school subject, as well as the parameters of such classes. The professorship also engages with questions surrounding religious education and instruction in the islamic tradition and of today. On the other hand, Practical Theology deals with the practical dimensions and applications of Islamic theology and praxeology. As part of Practical Theology, students are introduced to the theories of various practical areas.
