Nimet Şeker (2023): [Book review] Women and Gender in the Qur’an. New York, NY: Oxford University Press, 2020, in: Die Welt des Islams 63.3 (2023), S. 367–371.
Celene Ibrahim’s textual study "Women and Gender in the Qur’an" presents findings resulting from her shift in perspective and methodology within the research field. Unlike earlier studies, she considers the Qur’an’s narrative structures and focuses on methods of literary analysis to analyse the embedding of female figures and gender issues in Qur’anic themes and messages relevant to both genders. Her publication includes excellent textual foundation and analysis as well as a detailed bibliography, index of people and places, index of Qur’anic citations and an index of subjects and terms.
